Downtown Parking and Transportation Information
Recognizing the importance of affordable and convenient parking options for the success of downtown redevelopment efforts, downtown Mt. Pleasant has more than 1,000 FREE parking spaces including:
  • 3-hour on-street parking for customers
  • 3-hour and 10-hour options in our 13 municipal lots

ADA-Friendly Parking
Throughout the downtown you will find designated ADA spaces in parking lots and on-street for use by anyone with a valid ADA placard. On-street ADA spaces include the following locations:
  • NW corner of Broadway and University
  • NE corner of Main and Illinois
Biking
Mt. Pleasant is actively building up its bike infrastructure and culture. To accommodate the rising demand downtown, cyclists will find bike racks, public bike repair stations and a growing number of bike friendly businesses.

Bike repair stations can be found at:

  • Town Center, located 101 North Main
  • Island Park, located at 331 North Main Street at the bottom of the entrance bridge
  • Nelson Park, located at 714 West Broadway
Daytime Permit Parking Lots
There are two designated permit lots available for use. Permits for the lots are interchangeable and are available for downtown business and property owners, staff and commercial tenants at a cost of $75 per year. Daytime permits lot locations:

  • Lot #7, located at the NE corner of University and Illinois
  • Lot #8, located on Lansing Street between Broadway and Michigan

*Please note your permit must be placed in the front window, clearly visible to the parking enforcement officer. The most visible area is hanging the permit from the rear view mirror. If you forget your tag or are using another vehicle, please contact our office with this information to avoid getting a ticket.

Electric Car-Charging Station
A ChargePoint charging station is located in parking lot #2 (Jockey Alley), located on Mosher Street between Main and Court Street.
Enforcement and Ticketing
Parking management is enforced downtown through the City’s Division of Public Safety to help ensure convenient parking is available for all of our downtown visitors. Violations of these restrictions will result in a citation.

Tickets can be paid by placing payment in the drop box situated in the parking lot of City Hall, located at 320 West Broadway. Additionally, tickets can be paid online (see link below) or in-person at City Hall on the 2nd floor, 320 West Broadway.

Guest Parking Permits
Guests of downtown residents are required to obtain an overnight guest parking permit to avoid ticketing. Guest parking passes are FREE and are limited to seven days. Guests should follow the “even/odd” parking rules as detailed below under the section “Overnight Parking.”

After completing the application, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Your guest parking permit and map will be mailed to you the following business day. Should you need the guest permit faster, please contact us so arrangements can be made.

I-Ride Public Transportation
I-Ride provides curb-to-curb bus service throughout Isabella County. Visit www.ictcbus.com or call 989-772-9441 for more details. Downtown Mt. Pleasant also has a dedicated I-Ride bus shelter at the SW corner of Broadway and Main for convenient pick-up and drop-off.
Overnight Parking
Live downtown and need a place to park overnight? Downtown has seven overnight parking lot options for you to choose from. Overnight permits are $25 for six months and expire on June 30 and December 31 of each year. Please note there is NO parking allowed on downtown streets between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Even/Odd Overnight Parking System
Even/Odd parking system requires drivers to park on alternating sides of the overnight lots. The even/odd day determines where your car is parked at 4:00 a.m. Permit holders must park on the “even” side of the lot when the date is the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. at 4:00 a.m. or on the “odd” side of the lot when the date is the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc. at 4:00a.m. Remember to read the signs carefully and think ahead to tomorrows date if you are parking your car for the night before midnight.

ANY VEHICLE NOT PARKED IN A DESIGNATED OVERNIGHT PARKING LOT, NOT IN THE PROPER EVEN OR ODD AREA, OR WITHOUT PROPERLY DISPLAYING A CURRENT PERMIT WILL BE SUBJECT TO TICKETING AND/OR TOWING.
